Lighter, faster and more track tuned from Maranello: Meet Ferrari's new one-make championship wonder.
To be used in the 2011 Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, the new 458 Challenge retains the wicked 4.5L V8 with 570hp with a redline of 9,000 rpm but does with some new modifications. Gear ratio and calibration modifications have been made to the F1 box to ensure a higher torque output at lower revs. Most importantly though is weight reduction: body panels were reduced in thickness, while lightweight materials such as Lexan and carbon fiber replace the standard fare. Check the press release for all of your Ferrari passione information. BTW, this 458 Challenge all liveried up looks right to us—more so than the road car. Anyone else?
