2010 BMW M3 GTS!
Bimmer’s latest hardcore M3 finally shows itself.
While the E46 generation of BMW’s M3 had the CSL—a more aggressive, lighter, track-oriented package—the E92 M3 has been patiently waiting for a tracked-up version of itself to roll out of Munich. And it has! BMW has just debuted the GTS, the E92 version of the CSL.
Shown here in orange, the GTS is 400+ pounds lighter than the normal M3, weighing in at 3,285 lbs. In addition to the diet, the car is equipped with a front splitter and an adjustable rear wing to assist in generating a bit more downforce at speed. There’s also the semi-stripped interior, mounting points for a roll cage, fixed-back racing buckets, a Macrolon rear window, a fire extinguisher and an emergency cut-off switch. Additionally, there’s a power boost over the stock 4.4L V8 to around 450 hp and to help get that new found power to the ground are 19-inch wheels wearing 285/30 Pirerlli tires in the rear and 225/30 in the front. To aide in the stopping department, the M-boffins have also thrown in 6-piston calipers up front and 4-piston calipers out back. The only gearbox available, however, will be a 7-speed dual-clutch arrangement.
Overall it’s a very impressive package and with a price of around 115k euros, it’s also a wee bit expensive. The odds of it actually making it to the States are slim to none, but assume that some of the parts will trickle down into an M3 Competition package, similar to what was available on the E46 towards the end of its model life.
