The "car versus plane" race is a staple of the automotive world, in spite of the fact that it's an incredibly forced comparison because aircraft and automobiles accelerate very differently. The car will always win the 0-60, the plane will always win the standing mile. At least Land Rover managed to make the latest installment a little more interesting by making them both whip a U-ey in the middle of the race. (Spoiler alert: Fighter planes make U-turns with far more panache than cars.)
It makes for damn good television (or Internet video, or whatever), but we can't help feel like the Vicker Supermarine Spitfire doesn't make for the most apt flying competitor for the all-new Range Rover Sport. Seventy-year-old analog airplane versus 21st-century digitally-mastered super-SUV? They should have at least asked the RAF for a Eurofighter Typhoon.
