Silly us. Here we’d been thinking that Lamborghini’s three-off Aventador-based Veneno was the car maker’s birthday present to themselves (and their fans) in honor of their 50th year on Earth. But who only gets one present for their 50th birthday?
So we guess we shouldn’t be surprised to meet the Lamborghini Aventador LP720-4 50 Anniversario, seen above in leaked images that snuck online in advance of the car’s official Shanghai Motor Show debut. We don’t know much else about it, but here’s what we can reasonably assume based on the little we know:
It will make 710 horsepower. Remember, the Aventador’s technical name is “Lamborghini LP 700-4 Aventador,” with the “700” standing for the metric horsepower it makes—691 American ponies. Ergo, “720-4” means the 50 Anniversario makes 720 metric horses, or 710 Imperial ones. And the “-4” means it’ll keep the Aventador’s AWD.
It wears a unique body kit. Check out the black part of that two-tone body. It’s not the same as the regular Aventador. The front lip has a couple extra protusions in front of the wheels, and the front lip seems to extend farther out, as well. The rear lip sticks out further, as well.
It will be sold in a limited-production run. Well, this one is more of an educated guess, but considering Lamborghini actually built three examples of the much more complicated Veneno, it seems extremely probably they’ll offer the Aventador LP 720-4 50 Anniversario for sale. Probably for at least 25 percent more than the usual $375,000 asking price. They’ll probably even change that yellow paint to another color for a few dollars more. [via Car and Driver]
