It’s been a hot minute since we heard anything from Toyota’s AMG-like performance division TMG, and now we can see why: they’ve been hard work turning the Lexus LS into an S63 AMG-fighting monster. Time well spent, gang. Time well spent.
The TMG Sports 650, seen above in photos TMG released on their Facebook page today, is the result of letting TMG’s engineers loose on a hefty sedan with a hefty budget. Under the hood lies a 641 horsepower 5.0 liter twin-turbo V8, connected to an eight-speed automatic. We expect more details to emerge at the car’s Essen Motor Show debut next week—including, possibly, the car’s Nürburgring lap time, as the car was seen lapping the Nordschleife last year.
The big question, however, is whether or not anyone will be able to buy the TMG Sports 650 (or whatever a production version would be called—Lexus LS500 TMG, perhaps?). The car is a little over-the-top for a Lexus, but with the Audi S8, Alpina B7, Bentley Continental Flying Spur and Mercedes-Benz S63 and S65 AMG already selling like deep-fried Oreos at the Indiana State Fair, it’s hard to say there’s no market for such a car. Lexus—build this car. [via TMG on Facebook]
