For Porschephiles, the name Walter Röhrl is legendary. After proving himself in the rally racing world during a 14 year World Rally Championship career, Röhrl moved on to become Porsche's senior test driver for their road cars, helping develop such automotive masterpieces as the Carrera GT. It's not easy to see many ways to move up in the job market when you're starting at WRC champion, but it's not easy being Walter Röhrl.
Put the two halves of Röhrl's career together, though, and you make a perfect storm of car-nerd entertainment—which is exactly what this video is. Watching the master take a new Boxster S and carve up a road he demolished back in the 1980s in Lancia Rally 037s and Audi Quattros is just...it's like watching Gretzky return to the ice at Northlands Coliseum. It's magical.
