We’re less than a week away from the official, non-Hot Wheels reveal of the 2013 SRT Viper at the New York Auto Show, but that’s plenty of time for Dodge SRT to give us one last preview of the new serpent. This time, we’re taking a look inside.
The big news here, of course, is that stick poking up at the bottom of the image—our first official confirmation that the 2013 Viper will indeed have a six-speed manual gearbox. (It’s a six-speed—we zoomed in and checked. Unless reverse is actuated by an entirely separate button somewhere, it’s a six speed.)
The other obvious feature inside is the chunky “oh, shit” handle on the passenger’s side. If you’re looking for a statement of intent out of the new Viper, it’s hard to beat the message that thing sends: hold on tight, asshole. In fact, that handle might be the most Viper-y feature of the new car that we’ve seen so far.
Otherwise, the interior looks like a leather-wrapped bomber cockpit, which, considering the 2013 Viper will spend a fair amount of time bombing down roads and through traffic, seems like an apt comparison. (It’s certainly a step up from the outgoing Vipers, where the amount of time one could spend inside was strictly governed by the Geneva Convention.) We’re hoping we’ll have a chance to stick our butts in it at the New York Auto Show next week.
Oh, and just so you know—SRT will be broadcasting the 2013 Viper’s reveal live over the Internet. You can see it at this link come 11:55 am Eastern time on Wednesday, April 4th. We’ll wave if we see the camera. [via SRT on Facebook]
There's a QR scan code on the bottom of the seat back too. A crappy one, but it's there
