The tragic story of Saab’s demise took an even sadder turn on Monday, when the Swedish law firm handling the company’s dissolution announced they’d be auctioning off all 123 cars in the Saab Museum. If you can keep your tears to yourself, though, you might be able to walk away with a very nice piece of Saab history.
Among the cars hotting the auction block: the Ursaab, which was the original two-cylinder, 18 horsepower Saab prototype from 1946; a slew of 92s of various vintage; replicas of some of the greatest rally cars in Saab’s history; the fifth 94 Sonett roadster built, still in original condition; a prototype of the Saab 98; and a whole bunch of concept cars, including the sexy AeroX. Oh, and a six-wheeled flatbed 9000CS converted for use as a car carrier. Buy that one, you won’t even need to bring a trailer.
We’ve selected some of the highlights for the slideshow above, but if you’d like to see the full list, you can download the PDF here. If you’re interested in submitting a bid, you need to have it in writing and sent to the executors of Saab’s estate by this Friday at noon Swedish time. Just promise us one thing: only buy the 9-6X Koncept if you plan on burning it. [via Bring a Trailer]
What a shame! Another good car company ruined by GM! Am I ever glad Subaru bought out GM's shares of Fuji!
@Peter hahahaha Saab was so cool, until GM got into it ¬¬
