If you love fast cars, 2011 was a very good year. Just about every major manufacturer released at least one car guaranteed to spike an enthusiast’s EKG readings. We have our opinions as to which ones were better than others, but for the moment, forget about what we think. This is about you.
We want to know what you think was the best production car to hit the road this year. We’ve provided you with some suggestions in the photo gallery above, but you don’t have to choose from them—think of them as a jumping-off point. If there’s a car we missed that you want to mention, you can choose that instead. When you’ve made your selection, just write it in the Comments below.
Make sure you include your email address, however, because we’ll be choosing one responder based on how funny we think his or her name is at random to win a bunch of varied Hoonigan bumper and window stickers (as seen above), courtesy of our old pal Ken Block. You can respond as often as you like, but you’ll only be entered into the drawing once. We’ll pick the winner on January 3rd, 2012, so all entries received before then will be eligible.
Has to be the Audi TT-RS. 5 cylinders, 6 speed, AWD, and a turbo? Yes please!
Caddy CTS-V Wagon, because nothing says fuck you to the Germans like a 556 horsepower, supercharged sled.
Subaru Impreza WRX STi that with only minor mods set the Isle of Man record!
Hennessey venom gt
BMW F10 M5, because nothing says awesome more than a twin turbo V8 in a bavarian sedan. A true turbo sled.
Aston Martin One-77 it looks like shit but goes like stink!
Have to go with the Brits' choice on this, Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0. EVO had it as their car of the year and Chris Harris bought one. If I was a rich bloke, I would too but I am a small town American who is in love with v8s and the New mustang boss. Plus how many damn versions of a beetle can these guys make into great cars. They have been doing it for over 40 years now!
I'm not sure why people would chose a German saloon over a drop top, 562 BHP Italian super car, so I'm going with the 458 spider. Bask the Germans will be left behind, basking in the shadow of the 458's greatness.
The Scion FR-S. Lightweight and perfect balance which makes the most of the flat 4 and it's a blank slate for tuning like the old 86. Plus its the only one i could realistically afford. Best car from Toyota in a while.
Cadillac CTS-V Coupe. It's the pinnacle of what it means to be a Cadillac; extremely well done personal transport, with style and flair. The sedan is less brash, the wagon too practical and civil-minded; the coupe is pure excess, and everything Cadillac should be, and more. Sit in one with the Recaros; tell me that's not contemporary excess, as defined by the generation observing it, and show me a way to move up that doesn't come with umbrellas in the doors. It's fast, it has presence, and it just feels good. That's a Cadillac, that's the Standard of The World.
I gotta say the bmw 1m compact rear drive cars need a good old comeback. The FR-S will continue this trend but since none were sold this year I wouldn't count it.
The Fiat 500 because it is smarter than a smart car.
The Traxxas XO-1. It's a remote controlled car that goes 0.16 seconds faster than a Bugatti veyron.
I'd have to say the Boss 302 Laguna Seca, I mean who doesn't love a good stripped out track car from the factory? I'll take mine without the rear seat, thank you very much
2010 there were two stand out cars for me the Ferrari 458 and the Mercedes SLS (coupe). 2011 I find strangely odd year to try and pick a car of the year. There are plenty of choices but nearly really make me say wow I want that. The Mclaren MP4-12C is too bland, the Lambo Aventador may be great it's just not my sort of thing. The new Porsche 991 looks nice but the styling is just too bland. The GT3 RS 4.0 is the perfect car for Porsche enthusiasts but I'm a Ferrari man through and through. I love the concept and execution of the FF but for me it is just to expensive relative to its rivals like the Bentley Continental GT. Almost be default my car of the year is the 458 Spider, looks better than the open 430 and preferrable to the SLS roadster which looses its appeal without the gullwing doors.
Gotta be the GT3 RS 4.0 I mean seriously unbelievable power out of a 4.0 liter flat six. 500 HP and 3,000 pounds, yeah it has some ridiculous graphics but any car that makes 125hp a liter is good in my book. Plus it sounds like the devils chainsaw.
Has to be the in this order 1. Lamborghini Aventador 2. Porsche GT3 4.0 and 3. The Toyota GT-86/ Subaru BRZ/ Scion FR-S. The Lambo and Toyota/Subaru venture are game changers and the Porsche is the pinnacle of what a 911 can be.
BAC MONO for men. All others are for girls.
Mustang Boss 302; Ford finally got their powertrain shit together, and produced a car that will embarrass cars that are triple the price.
Those are all good cars but i would have to go with the Koenigsegg Agera R!
I have to say I'm loving that Ferrari FF.
I think my most favorite car this year would have to be the Lamborghini Aventador. I've seen it a couple times at Cars and Coffee Irvine and every time I'm drawn to its sharp angles and aggressive design.
Godzilla AKA Nissan GTR... Hands down. What other production car, with a less than $100k price tag, comes with 530 hp, AWD, a 0 to 60 time of less than 3 seconds the ability to lap the "ring" in under 7.25?
Id have to say that my favourite car of the year would have to the be R35 GTR hands down
I am going with the SVT-Raptor 6.2-liter. Nothing else in regular production is within a mile of this thing. Personally I don't love trucks, but I love this truck. It's a transcendent vehicle.
Agera/Agera R Twin turbo V8 monster with new world record 0-300-0 GT3 RS 4.0 Best road legal car you can buy
Lamborghini Aventador lp 700-4 just because.
Nissan GT-R, no contest !
RWB 964
The SHO!!! Or the new rwd scion
