If we’re being honest, we were a little surprised that BMW didn’t reveal the new F30 generation 3 Series at the Frankfurt Motor Show. After all, it’s the hometown show for the German automakers, and since we’ve already seen (admittedly grainy) pictures of the undisguised car on the streets, we figured it was just about ready for public consumption. Then when it didn’t show up, we figured they were holding out for a reveal at a later, potentially less star-studded show.
Well, turns out BMW is instead choosing to embrace the future instead. Who needs an auto show reveal for a few hundred journalists and industry insiders, when you can live-stream the new 3 Series’s debut on Facebook?
Yes, the F30 3 Series will officially unwrapped this Friday, October 14th, at 4pm Central European Summer Time, which corresponds to 10am East Coast time if we’ve done our math correctly. We’re expecting a variety of turbocharged four-and six-cylinder engines and an absurd amount of electronic aids, nannies, and distractions. (At some point there will be a turbocharged six-cylinder M3, though, so that’s a plus.) If you’re so interested, you can watch it live on Friday right here, along with much of the automotive journalism world. [via BMW]
