BMW Makes A Lighter M3 Sedan

Thank God this wasn't an April Fools Joke.

We all had fun on April Fools’ Day this year (well, at least we had fun writing those April Fools articles), but we’re glad not every story that appeared on the Internet yesterday turned out to be false. For example, BMW’s announcement that they’ll be sliding a lighter, more powerful version of the M3 sedan into the M lineup.

The new sedan will be officially unveiled at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, but BMW gave selected members of the media a sneak peek at the car on April 1st. Starting with the already-wonderful M3 sedan, the M3 Concept adds on a few extra horsepower over the 414 found in the usual model, a lighter exhaust, stronger brakes and a sportier suspension. Of course, there’s a handful of aesthetic tweaks, too, like 19″ darkened alloys and a blacked-out grille.

The production version of the concept, which should slot between the regular M3 sedan and the M3 GTS, may or may not be coming to the United States; obviously, we’re hoping it will. Price? Well, we’ll have to wait and see.
