What would be better than a 451 horsepower Mercedes-Benz C-Class? A 500+ horsepower C-Class, that’s what. And that may be exactly what Mercedes is planning on offering up to the world, if recent spy photos of a modified C63 AMG prototype are being interpreted correctly.

The car in the picture differs only slightly from the regular old C63 we’ve come to know and hoon, but wider fender flares and front wheels peeled straight off the CLK63 AMG Black Series would lead us to think this could be a more extreme Black Series version of the AMG C-Class. Word is floating around that the car will score a new diffuser in back and a bigger spoiler on its chin for some added panache (and presumably for aerodynamic purposes, too).

The amped-up 510 horsepower version of AMG’s 6.2 liter V8 from the CLK Black Series would seem the obvious engine choice, though considering that car’s been around for a few years already, we’d hope AMG would try and squeeze a few bonus ponies from the mill for C63 AMG Black Series duty. (After all, the SLS taught us the engine is good for at least 563 horses.) No matter what the final power output ends up being, a lighter, stronger C63 is the sort of car we would certainly put on our Christmas lists. [via Pistonspy, who has more pictures]
