Just because we haven’t driven the new McLaren MP4-12C yet doesn’t mean we don’t love it. From everything we’ve seen and heard, the British sports car will likely explosively propel our socks from our feet when it arrives on the streets next year. Of course, while the road car will surely* be nuts, when McLaren builds a street car a racing version can’t be too far behind—and in fact, new spy photos show the company’s GT3 race car is already in testing.
Reports that McLaren is working on a GT3-class race car have been around for a while, but this is the first time we’re seeing the actual racer, and it looks pretty vicious. There’s a rear wing out back that looks big enough to keep an F-15 grounded, while the front air intakes are covered over. The Mp4-12C also appears to have grown a pair of canards on its nose…but we kind of doubt those will reach production. Check out more pictures of the car over at Autoblog. [via Autoblog]
