Car companies test their prototypes under extreme conditions. For heat, they go to Death Valley or Dubai. For cold, they head to the Arctic Circle. But in the case of the next 911 Turbo, Porsche appears to be testing it in the intense publicity of Hollywood. A sharp-eyed driver says he caught a glimpse of what appear to be two 991-series Turbos cruising through Los Angeles yesterday, and was able to snap these pictures through his own vehicle’s windows. The stone-faced displeasure in the driver of one of the Porsches is particularly funny; dude, if you don’t want people taking pictures of your prototypes, don’t drive them through the motion picture capital of the world. The first 991-series 911 models are expected to appear in showrooms next year; Porsche usually introduces the Turbo model one to two years later, but considering these rather-complete-looking prototypes, the shorter end of that range seems more likely this time around.
