Bentley yanked the covers off the latest Continental GT coupe this morning, and if you had trouble telling it was a new model, don’t beat yourself up too much about it. Exterior styling hasn’t changed much from the current Conti; there’s a greater disparity in size between the headlights, and overall styling is a tad blockier, but overall, it looks like the company didn’t want to mess very much with the looks of the very popular first-generation GT.
Motivation comes from the same 6.0 liter W12 engine currently under the Continental GT’s hood, but for 2011 duty, power has been raised to 567 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque; a new “Quickshift” six-speed automatic transmission, capable of double downshifts, sends that power to all four wheels. (However, the rear axle now receives 60 percent of the power by default, instead of the 50-50 split of the old Conti.) For the poor environmentally friendly, a 4.0 liter V8 option will appear on the options list late next year; the company hasn’t released power figures for the engine yet, but did say the V8 will produce 40 percent less emissions than the W12.
Inside, “Cobra design” seats designed to coddle G.I. Joe’s worst foes offer both ventilation and massaging options, while an eight-inch touchscreen on the dash offers Google Maps compatibility. Oh, and if you really like to blast the Wagner BBC, there’s an 11 speaker Naim stereo made just for the new Conti GT. Let us know when you’re ready for us to try one, Bentley. [via Bentley]
