It’s a question that’s probably been around ever since there was more than one model of automobile on the planet: what car would you choose for a road trip? It’s an important question (in the sense that it’s inspired millions of hours of drunken heated argument around the world), but an awfully open-ended one. How long is the trip? Are speed limits being enforced? Do I dare reveal that I secretly love the roomy seat of my granddad’s Town Car? So to simplify things, I posed the following question to the staffers here at the office today: On a non-stop trip from New York City to Los Angeles, what car would you take, and who would be your co-driver? In no particular order, the answers.
Alex Bernstein: Nogaro Blue Audi B5 RS4; Mila Kunis
Will Sabel Courtney: 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo; Tina Fey
Tony Harmer: 2010 Subaru STI “with none of that paddle-shift crap;” Lisa Loeb, Sebastien Loeb and Alex’s dog Jake
Jack Chinelli: Mercedes-Benz 500E; Anthony Bourdain
Michael Crenshaw: Chevy Corvette ZR1; Norm MacDonald
Matt Tuccillo: black Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 with 50 gallon fuel cell; Kate Beckinsdale
Mike Spinelli: Porsche Panamera Turbo; P.J. O’Rourke
Reynald Fries: Hummer H1; Sasha Grey
What about you?
Rey Rey with the sexual innuendo.
My custom 280z and Jesse James of west coast choppers
Or Clint Eastwood
I'd take the NSX that I'm taking on the Modball rally or I'd take an M5 with a huge fuel tank. Someone needs to beat that record by Alex Roy!
Danica Patrick and Tera Patrick, with Dawger on the cameras. In an E39 M5. " 'Cause that shit classy"
With a 20 gallon fuel cell that would still beat Matt to every refill.
Red Ferrari 599 GTO with my wife and 9mo old son. or KTM X-Bow with my wife (not a lot of car seat room).
Corvette ZR1; Chester Bennington (Linkin Park)
Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Alex Roy
2010 Audi R8 V10, in black. With Jay Leno riding shotgun.
