This morning, we dropped the news that, during a special presentation at Pebble Beach, a few select Ferraristi had the chance to see a prototype of the Ferrari 599 Roadster. Once word began spreading across the Internet, other attendees began coming forward (anonymously) to confirm the story. At the exclusive event, the lucky folks with golden tickets invites reportedly saw a 599 convertible with a fabric roof designed for occasional, low-speed use. Witnesses said the car was painted Rosso Fuoco red, with silver buttresses and new wheels. As for powertrain details, they said the 599 Roadster will use the 670 horsepower 6.0 liter V12 from the 599 GTO; given the claims that the Roadster will not weigh more than the hardtop 599 GTB, acceleration should be…intense. Supposedly only 100 will be made, at a price higher than the GTO; the car will reportedly arrive next summer. And as we’d hypothesized, all visitors were required to sign NDAs and give up their cell phones and cameras for the event. So to our dear leak at Luxury4Play: we hope your selfless act doesn’t cost you one of these babies. [via Autoblog]
