Eight spectators died and eight others were injured Saturday night in the Mojave Desert, when an off-road racing truck flew off the course. The amateur race was put on by Mojave Desert Racing, and as you can see from the video footage below, there were really no restrictions about how close race-goers could be to the track. The driver of the wayward modified 2000 Ford Ranger, Brett Sloppy, is not facing charges; on his Facebook page, he wrote, "Soo incredibly lost and devistated [sic] my thoughts and prayers go out to all the familys[sic] and friends involved.. Thank you too all my friends for sticking with me even thru these tragic times I love you all."
