First Hennessey Venom GT Delivered

Take a guess where. Yep.

Give up? Of course the first twin turbo Hennessey Performance Venom GT -- all 1200 horsepowers' worth -- went to a buyer in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The LS3-powered, erstwhile Lotus was dropped off by one Sir Alfred J. DiMora (No, not the British kind of sir. He's a Knight of Malta) founder of DiMora Motorcar, which happens to be the exclusive distributor for Hennessey supercars in the Middle East and India. Those unaware should note the Silverstone, England-assembled Venom GT produces 1,135 lb-ft of torque, weighs 2,685 lbs with fluids and can get from zero to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds (according to Hennessey). The carbon fiber body has an adjustable rear wing for downforce. It also costs more than $800,000. Sir indeed. [via PRLog]

Press Release: Jul 15, 2010 – Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The first production LS3 Twin Turbo 1200 HP Hennessey Performance Venom GT was delivered to its new owner in Dubai by Sir Alfred J. DiMora, Founder of DiMora Motorcar, the exclusive distributor for Hennessey supercars in the Middle East and India.

The Venom GT is powered by a Texas-built, twin-turbocharged Hennessey Chevrolet LS-series aluminum V8 engine producing 1200 HP and 1,135 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 6-speed Ricardo manual transaxle. With a dry weight of 2,548 lbs and a curb weight of 2,685 lbs with a full tank of fuel, the car has an astounding power-to-weight ratio of 2.24 lb/hp. It can go from zero to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. The carbon fiber body has an adjustable rear wing for exceptional high-speed stability. The final assembly is completed at Silverstone, England.

Hennessey Performance is planning very limited production per year of these hand-built, high performance, street-legal machines. Available in both left- and right-hand drive configurations, the Venom GT has three engine options at 725 HP, 1000 HP, and 1200 HP. Prices for the Venom GT begin at $890,000.

DiMora Motorcar is also offering to the serious car collector the only Venom GT X1 Prototype. This flat black GRP (glass reinforced plastic) supercar is configured as right-hand drive and it has a 725 HP Hennessey Chevrolet LS9 supercharged engine. In May 2010 the Prototype Venom GT X1 was featured on the cover of BBC Top Gear magazine. Potential dealers and buyers may contact sales@dimoramotorcar.com or call 760-832-9070.

The speed is nice sure, but the thing looks too strange for my tastes. Limos look fine stretched, not Lotuses.

I agree with Brando. have a coach company stretch a 50k lotuts for you for another 50k. the have someone build a zr1 crate motor for you with turbos instead of the blower and whalla. hennesey venom. minus some suspension tuning and other tidbits. but way less than 800k !!! How about 160k all said and done? Def not a deal. this and the ssc aero are not special enough. they stole a diablo like look and hennesey took a lotus look. Nothing NEW here just a modders delight.

Although you have valid points, I'm a modder, and I like it a lot. I think its appearance isnt altogether spectacular, but its still a fairly new thing, and people will buy just for that. I know I wouldnt turn one down if someone was offering me a drive. I hope they put it on top gear.
