Audi R8 GT

A weight-loss program that Kate Moss would be proud of and a supplement diet that would make Barry Bonds envious.

Being a top model (the R8, not Kate Moss) allows flexibility to your range, like decreasing weight and adding horsepower. That’s exactly what Audi did with their R8. With the R8 GT, Audi trimmed 220.46 lbs. of fat off of their AWD supercar and boosted power to 560hp and 398 lb.-ft of torque by means of a modified electronics program. But the majority of the increased performance—0-60 in 3.6 seconds and 0-200 km/h (124.27 mph) in 10.8—is thanks to the increased power/weight ratio of 6.00 lbs./hp compared with 6.82 lbs./hp.

Certain body components now made of carbon fiber, a thinner windshield along with polycarbonate rear hatch and other weight saving measures were taken to reduced unsprung mass, making the R8 GT the fastest production Audi right now. If you’d like to race your GT, which will be available in only 333 units, Audi can make that happen with a race package, complete with roll bar, four-point belts, fire extinguisher and kill switch. Engage!
