On travel stories, the photographer is usually either loving or loathing the fact that they know what time it's going to get dark, and when that hour arrives, your work for the day is just about done. You start early to get the good light and keep working till that light comes back again at the end of the day. You find your Hampton Inn, do some edits, plug in 30000 batteries to charge, hope the wifi works and with any luck, see some boobs or better over video chat. The writer usually writes in his cute little Moleskine for a bit, asks the shooter where we should go the next day, and falls asleep an hour before you do, clutching the keys to whatever Porsche/Lambo/cool car they are testing while you sit and sneer at the keys to your minivan (or prius) rental. Norway in the summer, doesn’t really get dark. It gets blue for a bit around two, then the sun comes out again. That means lots of photos, but only a few pages in the mag to put them on.
