Here Chinelli and I are, walking back from the deli to 0-60′s world headquarters, when we see a GT-R on the back of an NYPD tow-truck. Normally, under any other circumstance, if we saw a car on the back of the truck we wouldn’t give two shits; but a GT-R?! Everyone knows that the GT-R is AWD. Everyone except for this cop because towing this car with the lack of a flatbed spells certain disaster in my mind for the tranny. Oh, and biggest F.U.: the GT-R owner had a huge Fraternal Order of Police badge in the window. Like I said, the cop didn’t care. You break the law, even for a parking violation, and your GT-R is getting towed.
Towing the GTR without the rear wheels on a dolly or being a flat bed will cause serious damage to the drive train.
more so over long distance, but nissan should still void the warranty. lol
You guys ever witness how the NYPD tows a parallel parked car? The transmission getting messed up is the least of your problems. The put hooks on the suspension arms and yank the car sideways. I could no believe it when I first saw them do it. Clearly they believe your parking violation gives them the right to destroy your car.
@AC: of course we've witnessed the terror that is NYPD Traffic, we're here 364 days a year. Wanna see some fast towing? Check this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1a6e7JjrLI&feature=player_embedded
this is what I'm taking about, and this is a gentle version of what I've seen here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CchBo4aSVwQ&feature=search and of course, Lambo's get towed too :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPfca2R6yus&feature=related
[...] to our Light ‘Em Up of the Day series. (However, it probably won’t help you when the NYPD tows your car.) The rest of the GT-R receives plenty of tweaks for the new year, too, from lightly revised [...]
you keep saying "the cop". Cops dont tow cars, these are parking/traffic agents, they dont carry guns or anything
Actually Rob, "cops" who are employed by the NYPD do tow cars. http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/html/careers/application_overview.shtml
Wow..just wow..well at least this shall be a lesson to every AWD owner in NY.
This is unbelievable!! The GT-R is my favorite car and watching it treated like... That car is going to never be the same not to mention irreversible damage on the exhaust system.
Hey give 'em a break--the boys in blue are out there protecting our lives; we shoud be grateful instead of scrutineering their chosen method for dealing with something that is, after all, just a car. I'M KIDDING, what these worthless assholes are doing to these highly-esteemed pieces of rolling sculpture is an abomination--and criminal, I'm sure. There is no public benefit to these actions that isn't entirely outweighed by the value of a moment's glance at a Gallardo or a GT-R. These metermaids clearly have no respect for their superiors--yes, I'm talking about the cars; a GT-R has more brains than all of One PP.
