Toyota gives up on F1

7 years + millions of dollars + 0 titles = quitting time for Toyota's F1 effort.

It’s officially official, there are no longer any Japanese companies involved in Formula One. Following in the steps of Honda last year, Toyota has announced that it will be pulling the plug on their F1 efforts moving forward. Apparently sinking hundreds upon hundreds of millions of dollars into the program and not coming up with any title wins over the past seven seasons has left the bean counters at Toyota asking the big “why are we doing this again?” question.

While the move to quit F1 leaves three drivers (Kobayashi, Glock and Trulli) without seats for next season and hundreds of employees without jobs, the bigger loss might be the lack of trickle-down development
