0-60 and Need For Speed: SHIFT Downloadable Arcade Instructions

0-60 finally delivers. Here's a downloadable how-to on building our arcade, with some help from Electronic Arts.

How long has it been? Actually it’s been, get ready…564 days since we told you in issue 3 that there would be downloadable instructions on our website on how to build your own racing console. Sure it’s a been a long time: we have a new president, the King of Pop died and there have been six issues of 0-60 published since, but we’ve finally come forward with our guarantee of a PDF download. Sure we posted some hand sketched drawings, but now, thanks to Electronic Arts, we have a serious set of CAD drawings for you to follow, 66 pages in all. Everything from the material list to painting to final assembly is laid out clear and concise for all you nerds out there to put together.

Be sure to check out the Need For Speed: SHIFT Prize Package giveaway also. You have the chance to rip all our precious electronics out from under us. They include: a 40″ Samsung LCD TV, a PS3 Slim and a Logitech G27 Racing Wheel.

And in case you didn’t know, Need For Speed: SHIFT comes out today so grab yourself a copy, some tools and a six-pack…of soda and get to work. Well, what are you waiting for? Get going!

We also want to give a special thank you to Tony Scotto because without his expertise in woodworking and tool use, we’d probably be out a couple fingers and work definitely wouldn’t be as fun.

I forgot all about how cool/exciting this is/was! I have however just remembered how expensive steering wheels and shit used to be! I found some cheapies online now though. I'm in college now so I can't really afford to build something like this myself, but I think my roommates will be down for going in on something like this. I'll send you some pics after we get kicked out for failing grades and selling the bunks in here for space (for our new GETTIN'MAJORPOON Center). Haha, no but seriously, if we do it, we'll send pics! And everyone else who pulls it off should too! But don't think about stealin' our arcade's name.

Wow...super sick. Totally better than the directions scribbled onto loose leaf paper.

but what if I have access to a CNC mill? Can I get those cad drawings? For kids in the bay area, a quick stop at the Tech Shop will sort this out.

Hey Brian, would the Fanatec Porsche Turbo S wheel work, with these specs, in place of the Logitech wheel? So in the between time of NFS shift and Gran turismo 5 I can just throw my Xbox 360 in and get down on Forza 3? http://www.fanatec.com/

Jason, not speaking for Brian -- but if you read through the PDF, you can make the necessary adjustments for whatever you plan to use -- plus there has been thought put into adjustability so anything should pretty much work -- you just need to measure and cut to your specs.

Well easy and straight forward design with easy templates. VERY easy to modify for PC or exbox :)
