Sure Honda dropped out of Formula One, but that doesn’t mean that they’ve completely turned their back on motorsports. Hey it’s strictly buisness. In an effort to give back to those who support the Honda brand, the Japanese car maker has teamed up with Korean sportswear manufacturer, Fila (yes they are Korean), to put out a line of brand new racing shoes.

“For many years, Honda enthusiasts have campaigned our products in racing series throughout the U.S.,” said Erik Berkman, President of Honda Performance Development. “We are pleased to announce that we will now support those efforts directly, by introducing products and services geared toward helping our customers fulfill their racing dreams.”

Each shoe features a low profile outsole that allows the wearer to feel the control of the gear and the gas pedals when driving, while internally injected EVA midsoles provide maximum comfort without adding weight or thickness. Lightweight materials such as carbon fiber and ballistic mesh panels have also been integrated into the shoes to allow for support and breathability all while helping to maintain the strength of the shoes.

The Honda/Fila racing shoes will be offered in both low top and high top models in four different colorways. The shoes should be availible at most Fila stores or online at hondaracingline.com starting in August 2009, which means you should go pick up a pair now.
