Marshall Pruett over at SpeedTV.com just got the scoop on Mazda’s future in ALMS. He grills John Doonan, Mazda’s motorsports manager, on why Mazda even bothers racing when they’ve consistently been finishing last. Ultimately, Doonan says, “We’ll be unveiling the coupe at Petit Le Mans this October. And we plan to continue to work with Lola.” The future also holds a direct injection engine to replace their 2.0T (so long, screeching three rotor).
Right now the Lola coupe races with an Aston Martin engine in the European Le Mans Series. Compliments to Andy Blackmore on the speculative livery.
I love closed-cockpit LMP's, hopefully Acura's next and they finally destroy those RS Spyder's for good!
