Remember the independent days of Aufrecht Melcher GroĂźaspach before the 1999 M-B buyout? Yeah, we thought we did, too, until we were tipped to this AMG-tuned sixth generation Mitsubishi Galant. Before you flip your lid, it seems AMG didn’t do a whole lot anything to the motor or drivetrain—word is it’s the same FWD, non-turbo setup (re: not a VR4). Oddly, the brochure shows a “Type I” and “Type 2″ setup but our Japanese reading skills are rusty nonexistent, “our bad”!
However, it’s clear AMG did offer a clean kit and wheel options along with interior cloth upholstery mods.
Does this “discovery” excite some of us at 0-60 more than the latest bland photos surrounding the E92 M3? Sadly, yes (Hey, it’s the little things!).

Wow... what a gem.
This Lucky Guy MB4EVA has 3 genuine galant amg's and one for sale on ebay! Wish I had the dosh!
The article is partially incorrect. The AMG galant is still FWD, but the engine is a tuned high compression, normally aspirated version putting out 168hp to the normal GSR model's 138hp. Many of the other features on the car (interior, brakes, bodykit, suspension) are upgraded in the typical luxury performance style that AMG is famous for. Hello, I am an owner of an DB 280TE AMG Step II (you can see the car here > http://www.mb-galerie.de/galerie.php?classnr=28&modelnr=126). While surving the internet I found some informations about the MITSUBISHI GLANT AMG. My local Mitsubishi dealer will not sell the indoor AMG-plate from the Galant to me, only if I have an original FIN (car data number from the frame)... Maybe someone could send such a FIN directly to my hands, so I clould order such a plate for my car Joerg.Maschke@MVConline.de Thanks for all the help
